Our famous sticky chai recipe (the first in the UK!) is made in small batches, using freshly ground spices, Indian Assam Tea & wildflower honey.
Our Original Sticky Chai is a perfect balance of spices, including cardamom, ginger & cinnamon, all blended together to create a rich, deep flavour. We love to infuse our sticky chais on the hob in oat milk but they can also be enjoyed steeped in hot water using a Brewdini or even cold brewed! The history of Sticky Chai
ā What Is Sticky Chai?
Sticky Chai is a modern take on traditional Indian masala chai. It combines tea leaves, spices & honey into a thick, sticky blend that's easy to brew & packed with flavour.
š Where It All Started
Masala chai has been enjoyed in India for centuries. It's brewed with black tea, milk, & spices like cardamom and ginger. Sticky Chai, however, is a much more recent invention.
š A Modern Invention
Sticky Chai emerged in the early 2000s in Australia, where baristas wanted a chai that was more authentic than powders or syrup. Mixing spices & tea with honey created a ready to use blend that locked in flavour and aroma.

Bird & Blend introduced the UKās first Sticky Chai. Using eight spices & wildflower honey, the recipe quickly became a fan favourite & even won a Great Taste Award!

2 tea spoons (or 1 heaped tea spoon) to 1 cup of milk.

Sadly very weak flavour
"Despite the incredible smell when you first open the bag the flavour of the sticky chai, when made, was so weak. The black tea overpowers completely all the spices - and of these there is merely a suggestion in the finished drink. I tried again with twice the recommended amount, and sat the pan of milk on low for a while. I was encouraged by the milk turning a golden colour. I decanted the hot milk and the chai mix from pan to a tea diffuser teapot. Even then the flavour just was not there. Last try - I will had some more of the same spices in the mix to the next try out. Sadly do not recommend"
Love this chai latte perfect
"I was afraid this chai lattee would be too sweet for me as it said it contains honey, it often is quite sweet and sticky in local coffee shops this was just just pefect"
Surprisingly good!
"I honestly wasn't sure about this one, I suspect it's a bit like Marmite! However I brewed it in a diffuser and added a splash of golden syrup (yes, really!) and a creamer rather than milk and I have to say it really is rather good. It smells wonderful and has a lovely lightly spiced creamy flavour."
Takes some tinkering
"I'm still trying out different proportions of brewing this tea, haven't quite hit the right way yet. Best so far was taking 8 tsp and heating for 30 minutes in 900ml milk, then decanting and cooling the strained liquid. I then heated 1/2 cup at a time in the microwave and added 1/2 cup warmed milk. Pretty good! But time-consuming. The tea is very nice, but not quite the 'instant' chai it promises."

"Nice chai - mixed with wwtered down condensed milk and brewed over heat - cooled and drank iced - perfect and pretty close to what you would buy in India. Maybe the honey is a little too flavoursome to have a fully authentic flavour"
Difficult to Measure Due to Consistency
"I found this quite difficult to make. The whole of the contents of the packet were lumped together in a large, solid mass. We literally had to use a serrated knife to try and saw into it to a brewable portion. I understand 'sticky' chai, but this was solidly fused. We've thrown the packet away as unusable. An expensive waste and quite disappointed. Hard to rate the taste as we couldn't unclump it, even in the hot milk. :( I would try it again in case this was an exception, but a lot of money if it's the same. This was our first try of the product. The Banana Bread one was much much easier."
Delicious as always
"I have a subscription for Sticky Chai, it's so good I never want to be without it. I prefer to drink this strong without milk to taste the spices which you can see as they are whole, the honey adds a subtle sweetness. It's so comforting, smells great and tastes delicious."
